Whether you’re aiming for an apprenticeship or further study within engineering, this course gives you practical experience and knowledge to get started.
Key information
A minimum of four GCSEs at grade D or above.
The qualification is delivered through face-to-face classroom and workshop sessions.
Assessment methods within this qualification include an on-screen multiple-choice examination for the mandatory unit and a centre marked practical and theory assessments for the optional units. Direct observation of practice.
Mandatory unit:
- Introduction to working in engineering.
Optional units:
- Introduction to electronics
- Introduction to brazing and soldering
- Introduction to 3d printing
- Introduction to automated technologies
- Introduction to cutting forming and assemblies engineering materials
- Introduction to basic mathematics and science used in engineering
- Introduction to CAD
- Introduction to MIG/MAG.
Staying with Gower College Swansea, you could progress to any of our Level 2 Engineering courses or enable a pathway to a Level 2 Apprenticeship.
