Ready to explore the magical world of kiln-formed glass? This course is your perfect entry point, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to enhance your existing skills.
You will explore a whole range of glass techniques including cutting, fusing and slumping. We'll also dive into sustainable practices, including working with recycled glass, and creating a reusable clay mould.
You'll gain confidence and master safe workshop practices, including proper glass preparation and the proficient use of various tools and equipment.
Throughout the course, we will work with a variety of glass art materials like float glass, stringers, confetti, and frits. We'll journey from ancient methods such as sand casting glass to modern processes like glass sandblasting.
Key information
This glass techniques course is delivered in the art and design studios at our Llwyn y Bryn campus in Sketty, Swansea.
To achieve your qualification, you'll complete a practical booklet of outcomes throughout the course, which will then be assessed.
Each term lasts for 10 weeks. You'll find it beneficial to attend consecutive terms to progressively develop your skills, but you're also welcome to join any term as a complete standalone course.
