This two year course offers an exciting opportunity to get the skills necessary to advance to higher education or gain employment within a wide range of pathways within the creative industries.

The ideal course for Film and Digital Production fans! This course is designed for future creatives and industry innovators. It will give you an in-depth understanding of the entire content creation process, from developing engaging content for various platforms to filming cinematic scenes and perfecting the final edit.

What’s on the agenda? Hands-on film-making magic combined with studio visits, career-boosting workshops, and trips to university open days where you can chat with industry professionals. You'll master every phase of the creative process - think of it as your personal adventure from pre-production planning all the way to that satisfying final edit.

How to apply

The Level 3 Creative Media course is available as a full-time study option. We also have apprenticeship opportunities at Level 3 and Level 4. Key information

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language.

A fun course taught face-to-face at our Gorseinon Campus.  

You will be able to work solo, or collaborate in teams on assignments that mirror real professional media practices. Throughout the course you will be guided and assessed, all while building a portfolio that truly stands out.  

In the first year, you will undertake eight exciting units:  

  • Project one: Heartbeat – Your story...make it pulse-pounding!
    Craft suspense like a pro. Make palms sweat, breaths hold, and viewers lean in by mastering the arts of visual storytelling through this scene creation based on building ‘tension’.
  • Project two: Media Mastery 101 – Get to know the Industry.
    Kick off your journey into professional creative media production with this engaging guide to the creative industries and real-world media practices.
  • Project three: The Ad Venture – Win hearts. Win clicks. Win the game. 
    Unleash your creativity by crafting visually stunning campaigns that engage audiences through captivating product cinematography, elevating your narrative artistry to new heights.
  • Project four: The Showstopper - Your Grand Finale.
    This is the BIG one! Complete your journey by piecing together all your talents into one epic, unforgettable project that showcases your growth and creativity.

Each project is designed to challenge your creativity and sharpen your technical skills, ensuring that you're ready to take on the professional media world. 

Completing this course in Film and Digital Production opens the door to a wide range of career paths and further education options. By developing practical, industry-relevant skills through hands-on projects and real-world challenges, you’ll be well-prepared to enter the creative media industry or continue your academic journey.

Career Paths 
When it comes to career opportunities, you can choose from a wide range of roles like Film Maker, Film Editor, Cinematographer, Director of Photography, and Sound Editor. For those who love digital, there are also some fantastic spots in motion graphics and VFX, like Animator, VFX Artist, and CG Supervisor.

A Distinction on your Extended Diploma is worth 168 UCAS points, making it equivalent to achieving three A* grades at A Level!
