Mixed Media Mould Making
Overview
Mould making is a foundational process in sculpture and design that involves creating a hollow form or mould, to produce duplicates or castings in a variety of materials. It plays a vital role in fine art, prop making, product design and more, offering endless creative possibilities for working in three dimensions.
This hands-on course will encourage you to experiment with a wide range of mediums and processes. You will explore both positive and negative casting techniques whilst gaining an understanding of the theory and technical aspects behind them.
Over the duration of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to work with materials such as plaster, Modroc, Gelflex, resin, latex, metal fillers, clay, and cement. Each day includes focused workshops where you can build a portfolio of mixed media artefacts, layering processes to develop a personal project of your choice.
Health and safety practices will be fully covered, and you’ll be guided throughout by an experienced tutor. Whether you’re a complete beginner, an artist exploring 3D processes, or someone looking to expand your creative skill set, this course offers a comprehensive and supportive introduction to mould making and casting.
